A 27-year-old man, Rashidi Sikiru, who allegedly murdered one Akeem Jimoh while he was drunk, has been arrested by the police.
According to the police, Sikiru allegedly stabbed Jimoh on the neck with a broken bottle around 10:00 a.m. at Orisa Junction, Imude, Ajangbadi while under the influence of alcohol.
The presiding Magistrate K.O. Ariyo of an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court refused to take the plea of the accused, stating that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the case.
Ariyo ordered the police to continue with their investigation into the matter and also ordered the police to duplicate the case file after completion of their investigation and send to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) for legal advice.
The Magistrate also ordered the accused to be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons and adjourned the case to June 13 for report from the DPP’s office.
