A Fake Army Captain Arrested In Lagos

The task force in Lagos State has arrested one George Edem suspected to be a fake army captain at Alausa, Ikeja,  Lagos State for extorting money from innocent people who had cases with Nigerian Police and Nigerian customs.

The suspect who claims he stays at flat 11, block 2, intelligence quarters,  Nigerian army cantonment was paraded on Sunday,  August 22, 2016 by the Chairman of the Lagos State task force,  Saheed Olayinka  Egbeyemi.

It was reported that the suspect who had been parading himself as an Army Captain  for over eight years had gone to release a 'Boxer' motorcycle that was impounded by operatives of both police and paramilitary elements attached to the task force officer at Oshodi.

According to Guardian,  the suspect was said to have carried a fake identity card.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police,  Fatai Owoseni who confirmed the case has directed that Edem be charged to court.

The suspect has however begged for Mercy from members of the public and the Nigeria police,  stating he committed the crime due to poverty.

The agency's spokesman, Adebayo Taofik,  said the Lagos State task force has enjoined members of the public to be wary of fake security  personnel who are operating illegally by perpetuating evil and duping innocent citizens of their hard earn resources.
