Laday Wendipanga, from Burkina Faso has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly killing one Adepeju Disu.
Wendipanga was said to have slit Disc's throat with a knife while she was asleep on the premises of Holy Cross Cathedral on Lagos Island.
The suspect was said to have inflicted several cuts on the body of the victim and dragged the corpse to secluded corner on the premises where it was found by a member of the church who raised alarm.
According to Punch Metro, vigil was ongoing in the church on Friday, November 4th when the incident occurred.
It was reported that the police from Lion Building Police Division removed the corpse and arrested the suspect.
A mechanic who doesn't want his name to be mentioned said the victims were mentally ill and were being taken care of by the church. He further stated that the suspect committed the crime in the church premises when the victim was sleeping.
Daniel, who stays in the area said Disu, moved to the church after the building she was staying in Lagos Island was demolished.
Another woman who doesn't want her name to be published said, the deceased had a misunderstanding with the suspect. Though the security in the church denied the case but simply called it a mere rumor.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmus who confirmed the incident said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yamaha.
